Something many people don’t know (we didn’t either!) is that podcasting costs money. Outgoings for podcasting for us looks like this…
1) Host website (in order for podcasts to be accessible on different platforms such as Apple podcasts, Spotify etc episodes need to be uploaded to an RSS feed on one specific host website. These websites charge a monthly fee, whether you are actively recording and releasing new episodes or not. Fees vary depending on how much content is uploaded and how often but is roughly $25 per month.)
2) Website (we love being able to host important articles, discussions, and thought pieces on our blog on our website which costs $25 per month)
3) Recording device (we use zoom to be able to record trans-atlantically and with guests from all over the country/world. A zoom pro account is $20 per month)
Now, this isn’t to moan. We love making The 98% and keeping it available to listen to for FREE at any time. And the many many hours of editing, marketing and producing are a labour of love. But we would SO appreciate any contribution to these costs so that we can continue to make content without burning too much of a hole in our pockets.
Every single penny contributed goest directly back into the podcast and the costs to keep it going. Every little helps seriously, Tesco were right with that one. Whether it’s £1 or £10 - you will be helping The 98%. So, if you’ve enjoyed The 98% and/or found it helpful in some way, please read the below to see how you can help!
